2023 Lyra Pinot Noir
VITICULTURAL AREA
The 2023 Lyra Pinot Noir is a refined barrel selection drawn from our treasured vineyard sites across the Sonoma Coast AVA. Centered around the exceptional fruit from our Marine Layer Vineyard in the Sebastopol Hills, the 2023 blend is complemented by select lots from distinguished vineyard sites in Green Valley and Petaluma Gap. This wine highlights the region’s remarkable range of climates, soils, and Pinot Noir clones; an inspiring foundation for thoughtful, expressive blending. The result is a wine that captures the layered beauty and character of the Sonoma Coast in every glass.
VINIFICATION
Fruit harvested by hand at night, hand-sorted and gently de-stemmed to keep whole berries intact, with 35% whole-cluster inclusion. Native yeast fermentation in open-top tanks with gentle pump overs. After three weeks on the skins, wine was gravity drained overnight and barreled down for malolactic. Wine aged for 11 months in 25% new oak. Bottled unfined, lightly filtered.
TASTING NOTES
The 2023 Lyra is a vivid expression of the Sonoma Coast. Medium ruby in hue, it opens with aromas of cranberry, rose petal, and citrus peel, layered with subtle spice and wild herbs. The palate is vibrant and finely textured, with red fruit purity, refined tannins, and lively acidity. A touch of French oak lends polish, while a saline lift carries the finish. Energetic yet composed, this wine offers both immediate appeal and aging potential.
