Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Josh Raynolds' annual report on the Best New Wines from Spain in Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar has just published and includes reviews on 28 wines from Valkyrie Selections.

Bodegas Valdesil hit big scores for all four of their wines, Montenovo, Valdesil, Pezas da Portela, and Pedrouzos (90-91-91-93, respectively) and Josh nailed it when he references the wines' "lift and nervy cut" and "emphatic minerality."

Also pulling out the one-two-three punch was a new addition to our portfolio this year, DiT Celler with Cabirol Blanc (90), Cabirol Tinro (90) and Selenita (90+). GREAT organic wines from the Montsant!

HIghlights on the white wine front (there were many) include:
  • Raventos i Blanc Silencis & Perfum (90 & 89)
  • Tomas Cusine Auzells (90)
  • Bodegas Ercavio Blanco (89)
  • Antonio Sanz Verdejo (89)

  • And few newer wines to the portfolio worth mentioning:
  • Finca Vinoa Ribeiro (90) - coming soon!
  • La Buena Vid Rioja (90)
  • Mencias de Dos Bierzo (90)
  • Azul y Garanza Abril & Fiesta (90 & 89)

  • For under $10, check out what Josh says is an "incredible value...would make a great wine for daily drinking." That is Lechuza Garnacha he's raving about - and yep, under $10 a bottle.
